HUMBLE AND FRED FAN E-MAIL

Hi H & F,

I just wanted to let you guys know I'm amazed when you talk about the radio consultants and their recommendations on how you run your show. They don't get that people listen to you because you have created a connection with your audience that people don't get on normal radio. I know your fans enjoy hearing about the personal stuff in your lives. I know more about your lives then the people I work with everyday. Again this is why people listen (they can get music anywhere else).
Congratulations on your 25th anniversary. (Sorry I won't make it up for party I'm sure it will be great).

Hi guys,
I'll keep this brief. I'm a 100%'er living in Adelaide, Australia. I'm a transplanted Canadian, and was thrilled when I found your podcast 2.5 years ago. You keep me entertained on my morning runs and then on my commute to work. I can't thank you enough for all of the laughs. Keep up the great work.
As a thank you, I have registered a domain name at GoDaddy.com
Congrats on the 25 years. Wish I could be at the Horseshoe gig.

H&F,
One of the blessings of living in western Montana is gorgeous vistas and with those come lots of long highways that provide plenty of time to listen to my Sirius/XM radio. I was looking for something fresh to listen to in the early morning and when I stumbled onto channel 168 and heard you guys, I was hooked. I really enjoy the free flowing conversation and never knowing where the program is going to head off to. Unlike some of the left or right garbage out there I respect that you guys (along with Eileen and Phil) can put your opinions out there without sounding judgmental or like you're preaching, just fun conversation like we are all sitting around the kitchen table. Makes my morning and kicks my day off great.
Keep up the good work, I'll be listening.

Hi guys,

Just wanted to thank you for having us in the studio today. I've been a big fan since the beginning and often listen in the car with my daughters (for better or worse). It was really cool seeing it in person and Natalie was thrilled with the daddy-daughter road trip. I wish we could have stayed longer but the damn traffic on the way took for ever.

Anyway your studio looked amazing and as a recent MBA graduate, I'm really impressed with what you guys have accomplished in the last couple of years from a business standpoint. It's really quite amazing. I can no longer listen to terrestrial radio without throwing up (except CFRB, usually also in podcast form) and I've been spreading the word about your show to my friends and trying to support your sponsors whenever possible.

Cheers,

Nick

Friday's show was HILARIOUS!!!! The Blundell laugh track was so funny! Dean would be asinine to turn down your H&FU offer! You guys are the "epitome" of where terrestrial radio should be heading! P.S. missing Eileen, but Phil is doing a great job!

Hi guys-

The Dean Blundell laugh thing was great- so true. I used to listen to his show and that was SO annoying. He would "laugh" so hard he couldn't speak and it was clearly fake. Glad to see Todd Shaprio has broken away from that crap and is showing his true talent on his own show.

Please don't bring Billie Holiday on your show- she will probably spend the entire time defending him (like Barry Taylor, Nikki and Gerry Dee did..so awkward) in hopes of getting another job.

Last comment...I agree with Howard when he told the interns to turn off their devices and pay attention to the show. No- they aren't multi tasking.. it's just plain rude.

that's all. I hope I haven't bored you!

Howard and Fred,

I have never written to a radio program before but needed to reach out this time. Growing up in Western NY, I discovered the Humble and Fred Show during college, around 1990 or so. I listened every morning until 1998 when I moved out of the area. Since the internet basically did not exist, I unfortunately could not get the H&F show in Florida.

Fast forward to April 2014. I just bought my wife a new car and I started driving her car which had Sirius Radio already. While changing all of her preset choices, I came across channel 168. I let out an audible "holy shit, that's Fred" when I heard Fred's distinctive, Canadian voice once again. To which my 6 year old daughter asked, "who's Fred?" All I could explain to her was it was the best radio show ever, hoping she did not notice the "holy shit" part.

So, after 16 years of pretty much god-awful shit radio, I cannot tell you how happy I am again to be able to drive to work each day listening to the H&F show. This has made the commute much more enjoyable everyday. I am also throwing in my hat to be your Florida correspondent.

Glad to have you back,
Ron

Hi Guys,

Just a quick note on the Opie and Anthony shows. It amazes me what people will write on Social media. There is no way anyone would call up and say that stuff about Eileen's baby. The best thing of all, is that the O & A fans had no idea that you guys would embrace all the nasty posts and turn this into a positive for your show.

Great Job.

Guys, what a SUPER segment with Phil Esposito.  What an easy going guy and what a great story teller he is.

I was also very proud of you Humble, because you were very patient  and let Phil talk without interrupting his flow.!!!! which made  a great interview.

Now, if you guys just could get  Bobby Orr and Don Jerry on your show, that would be amazing.

Cheers

I found you guys on Sirius/XM and I love your group. Listening to your show is like sitting in a room with a bunch of friends. I'm able to listen to your podcasts at work. So, I'm catching up on the past shows. What a great way to make the day go by. I often laugh and disturb others in the cubicle farm. They will get over it or go postal. The Humble and Fred shows is totally excitement dump worthy. Thanks you for being hilarious and give Eileen props for her excellent quick wit.

Hello there,
Still loving your podcasts!  I'm working hard at becoming a 100%-er.  Miss you when you have nights off.....what's with that!  I recently took you both to the UK and listened every night from the other side of the pond.  A week later I took you to Philadelphia for a little break...you had a blast!  You're the only 2 guys my husband doesn't mind me taking to bed every night....TuneIn Radio is great.  End of September you're coming with me to Phoenix....so bring your spa gear...it's not the Muse kind of spa though...sorry.
Fred, would you mind sharing your wife's quinoa salad receipe?  Others might be interested so you might want to post it on the site.

Thanks for all of the laughs!

Hi Guys,

I'm listening to you on shortwave at 6070 khz. As I was turning the dial you cam in weakly and you were speaking to a listener who was also listening on shortwave. I came in the end of that one. You next announced a contest that would test the listeners ability to desciminate your show to the most people. The signal fades in/out from 1 to 4 on my Grundig Yacht Boy 400.

Gonna go and listen some more.

Hey Humble , Hey Fred !

Well it seems after all these years you guys still remain my favourite show

Right from the day as a young kid Fred taught me how to tune into then 102.1 on my little radio ( remember that little guy back in the 90's that lived behind you in Brampton  Fred ? )  To finding you guys again on the Internet.

your radio show still remains true to its from ... even years later .

with the recent turmoil an fall out happening on the radio station I used to call home for the last 2 decades( 102.1 ) I had to move on and I'm Glad i did , with out reading up on the old history of chic/cfny on wiki I wouldn't have found your site as i didn't know you guys were still going , but I'm glad you are .

Cheers

I bought a new truck last week with Sirus xm so I now get to enjoy the new show live every day. Hope you guys are making enough to keep going but if Fred can pay 7 grand for a bed and you pay to have Josh jerked off you must be doing alright. Hello fuck faces,

I just wanted to write in and say your show has never been more funny than with the recent addition of Eileen Ross Ogden.

I listen to your podcast every day during my drives to and from work and look forward to Eileen's sunny ad hoc comments. I love the fact that you guys usually ignore her comic brilliance and timing, and feel like I am the only one that heard her comments. I suppose this is what makes her endearing (and I checked her out on Facebook).

I have to admit it took me a while to warm up to her, as her personality was an abrupt change from Kelly. I think it was her laughing giggle that made me not like her at first,  but soon I realized her genius when coffee would spew out of my nose on the morning drives.

I never hear of anyone complimenting her on this talent and just wanted to say thanks Eileen for making the other two guys more fucking funny!

Regards,

Bill Hood

(99.9 per center - cause I still can't listen to that horrific Titanic interview)

I was thrilled when playing with my satellite radio down  in Florida to find you on Canada laughs.

Really great to hear you both in the morning as I feel like I never left.

Do they replay any of the shows throughout the day?

Thanks, appreciate  the laughs!

Ladies and Gentlemen of the nut hut shit show,

Matt Jowett here. A loyal listener and fan of the show through the years. blah blah blah...

Ok lets get to the point of me actually reaching out to you - What if anything have you've heard regarding Todd's demise from Corus and DBS. Toronto Mike doesn't have any info as yet and Dean's weak comment on air appeared forced and evasive (or weasel-like). I assume the comment was conceived by the same tongue-ringed baglickers in the Corus legal dept that thought it would be fun to hose you guys for $5,000 to use YOUR OWN NAMES!!

Speculation in the blog world is that his removal was related to comments surrounding a fight at a Remembrance Day event last year. Bloggers are also saying Dean got him canned because they had a falling out.... Either story sounds odd to me but I have no understanding of the inner workings of the radio world. So I would ask you to provide some insight on the matter.

I definitely believe we are watching the pussification of Corus and the radio world occur before our eyes.. (thanks to Jason Barr for introducing me to the term - "pussification')

RIP Martin Streek.

Regards,

Matt

Hi Guys!
A couple of months ago I was pleasantly surprised to hear you guys back on the air on CFRB late at night. I was further delighted to learn that you now had a podcast that I could download and listen to the uncensored version of your show at my convenience.

I have been enjoying the banter between you guys and the fact that you two genuinely love each other (but not in a gay way, not that there is anything wrong with that) really comes through. There is no pre-tense or phoniness about the show. I was a Howard Stern fan for many years and when you moved to MOJO from CFNY I would often tune back and forth between the two shows. I was sad when you went away and these day Stern is a shadow of his former self, fully transforming into the out of touch celebrity he used to make fun of. I am not a big fan of terrestrial radio for anything other than local news and I can listen to whatever music I want to on my iPhone.

Podcasting is the future of broadcasting and the Humble & Fred Show is at the forefront of this new frontier. I have my preferences set so that each new podcast is automatically downloaded and ready for me when I go to work. I am a municipal employee and I spend most of my shift driving around the city and you guys help make it go by faster.

I have noticed you guys talking a lot about Netflix recently and thought I would chime in. I am one of those people who cut the cable almost a year ago and I don't miss it one bit. I have Apple TV which I use to access Netflix, Hulu Plus, stream programs using network apps on my iPad and I download anything else I can't get through those other methods and devices. I don't know if you are aware but Netflix Canada is not the same as Netflix US and the US version has a much more extensive catalogue. There is a way for Canadians to access using an IP masker that essentially fools websites into believing that you are in the US. The service even allows subscribers to switch back and forth between different countries that have Netflix which is awesome because they all have different program choices. The website is unblock-us.com and you should check it out. It may not be Costco room or a Tin Palace but it's still pretty f***ing cool and only cost about $5 a month.

Anyhow, nice talking to you and have a nice weekend.
Sincerely,
Ray in Toronto

Hi Howard

I know you can see my email address, but I will remain anonymous.

I know that your show is a comedy show so I don't want to be too bleak so don't read it on the show if it's too much of a downer.

Since 2006 after my Father passed away, I was dealing with my Mom who had Alzheimers. It was mild at the beginning but progressed as the time went on. Late last year she passed away from cancer. I was abusing alcohol to escape from life. When I discovered your podcast, it gave me a two hour a day escape and cheered me up. I still love alcohol but love your show more. A heartfelt thank you and more vegan treats will follow. You will never know how important your show is to me.

Hello Humble & Fred,

I was a long time listener of the Humble and Fred show back in the CFNY days.

I just recently found out about your new show and was happy to hear your voices again.

I would love to come down to your studios and talk with you about my life as a YouTuber and living though Social Media.

I have over 15,700 subscribers on my channel and would love to do a cross collaboration with you.

You guys invite me on the show and I make a video about it and share it on my Social Media.

We actually met at the York Region District School Board when you did the head shaving of charity.

Let me know what you think, it would be an honour :D

Hi Guys,

Been listening since the podcast started and I'm proud to be a 100%er.  I do think I should scale back a bit though.  On the weekend, my wife and I drank a bottle of zins and then, on impulse, bought a tin palace.

Hi Guys

Love your show.  I am a long time listener and a 100 percenter.

I have a couple of questions,..
I know you are taking some Fridays off this summer (good for you).  Will you still be running "best of" shows?  I have an automatic up date app on my iPod but don't seem to be getting anyFriday updates over the last two weeks.

Where is Kinder?  He was so funny in an awkward sort of way and I loved Jasmine.  Hope all is well. You usually have a nice send off for your crew but Jason just seemed to disappear.

I also miss Kelly.   She was such a good balance to your irreverence.  Maybe she could make a guest appearance?  I try to listen to her in the afternoons but typically there is not much Kelly just so so music and commercials.

I must say that Eileen is a gem.  She has a razor sharp wit that is marvellous to listen to.

Lastly I want to tell you that I told a young up and coming band from Mississauga about Slaight Music and the "it's your shot" contest.  Hopefully we see Cardinal Chase at the finals.

Loving you both....Keep up the madness

Dana

Hi guys

I listen to you everyday and have started from the beginning. In 1998 I remember seeing Howard twice, once in the blockbuster video store on lakeshore road in Clarkson and later that year coming out of a movie theatre on a Sunday afternoon. I always wanted to approach and say hi because I knew that he was part of the biggest radio duo in southern Ontario but was nervous as I thought , why would a major celebrity even acknowledge me as a fan. Now that I am a full supporter, I wanted to know if you would allow a fan to sit in on a show. Not to be part of the show, but just watch. I could give you a charitable donation and it would be a memory of a lifetime. If this is a possibility you could mention this on your show or have Phil contact me at
Shawn.ham@rogers.com and we could set up a show date.

Thanks for bringing happiness into our lives everyday.

Shawn Hammond

Hi Guys!

It is with great regret that I have to admit that I am no longer a 100%'er.  I lost my iPod about a month ago and it is the only way I could play the podcast in my older car.  It drove me crazy as I cannot stand terrestrial radio... I survived a little with AM talk radio most of the time though.  I thankfully found my iPod the other day and decided that instead of attempting to catch up from the start of June that I will try and stay current with the podcasts.  I can usually cover about 3 podcasts every 2 days or so with my commute.  I don't usually hope you guys go on vacation but with only doing 4 shows a week and some vacation time coming up... I hope to be up to date and back to 100% status real soon!

I did take the opportunity to listen to the Anne Murray episode which was fantastic plus a couple other select ones.  Can't wait to be back and up to date!!

Keep it up guys!!

Kevin from Bowmanville

Good Day Howard/Fred;

I was listening to the Mark McEwan interview, it's amazing that you have the chance to speak with him.  If you have Laura Calder in some time, I imagine there will be a line up of people to see/meet her.  OK, that might only be me.  With regards to Fred's comments about knowing the done-ness of the steaks, without cutting in to the steaks, the best way to check the done-ness is with a thermometer.  The picture attached is the best instant read thermometer available, this is the one they use on America's Test Kitchen, it's not cheap at $100, but it reads the temperature in seconds, and it doesn't make a large hole in the steak.  It's the Thermaworks Thermapen, I got mine athttp://www.bbqs.com/index.php.

The other two documents are things I've been wanting to send to you for some time.  The first one describes the various regions in Scotland with the different characteristics and tastes of the scotch's.  It also descibes the flavour terminology.   The second document is the temperature that various types of wines should be served.

Enjoy,
Rudra

Hey guys,

I bumped into Mark McEwan in the LCBO in Thornbury on Sunday. I talked to him saying that I knew you guys and heard him on the show on Thursday. He said he always has a great time being there with you guys, always having a great time and mentioned the cookoff in the parking lot on his next visit. I said I would be there for sure for that event. I also said that whenFred was talking about bbq'ing steak for friends earlier in the week, that I was one of the guys. It was great talking to him.

Also Howard, when we were leaving we look up in the sky and Gord Price in his Russian Yakk is performing a private airshow on the waterfront of Thornbury. The same routine he did at the Waterloo airshow. The Dam Pub patrons were all out watching.

Nancy was with me on Thursday and we listened on the way to work till 7:45 and the rest on the way home. The day before Howard Stern had Jerry Seinfeld in the studio and just as Nancy and I were leaving, the replay of that interview was just starting. We listened to the whole interview and then your show starting from the beginning of Mark McEwan and both Nancy and I said the same thing.... your interview with McEwan was just as interesting and compelling as the Seinfeld interview. Great job.

Sorry for the novel, I know you guys can only read 20 words and lose interest.

Fred Ball

Hi guys.

Listening to  today's podcast on my way home. In the first 15 minutes you talk about no expectations of anybody which leads to people having no expectations of themselves.  I could not agree with you more. My kids play soccer at the house league level in Barrie. This year the Barrie soccer club has decided that there will be no score keeping for ages 12 and under.  This is being done out of some stupid sense of equal and fair play. Idiots!!  As soon as the game is over the kids are asking what the score is. So far my son has played 2 games this season and his team has lost both. Their feelings aren't hurt. They are not emotionally scarred from the losses. They all seem to understand that they need to play better to win. When will they powers that be fuck off and allow us to let our children fall down, get dirty, lose, win, pass and fail?  Society needs to stop coddling everyone, not just kids. I'm sick of focus groups and studies and research to tell us to be gentle with everyone else. It's common sense!!!!!

Sorry for my ragey rageness. I, like yourselves am only being emphatic.

Sean from Barrie.
Keep on keepin on.

Hi Guys!

Setting aside the great guests and interviews I've heard on your podcast, it's the Humble and Fred brand of humour that has kept me entertained for over 20 years.  As an avid 100%'R plus, I've shamelessly plugged your podcast since it began.  Conversations invariably end up with me pressing people to hit your archives to see what you're all about.  I don't know what it was exactly about your show on Tuesday, June 4, 2013.... but that's my new go-to podcast.  That was Classic Humble and Fred, and I think easily the funniest podcast you've done, to date.  If potential listeners aren't hooked after listening to that particular episode, you'll never get them.  As always... thanks for the smiles.

Hi guys!

I just finished listening to your first two shows on Sirius XM and wanted to say that you guys are ON!

I am a one hundred percenter and was there when you first started adding on to the podcast. In my opinion, it wasn't pretty on some of those early transitions.....back then you sounded nervous to me, and it seemed to take some time and adjustments to get things straightened out.

Not so this time! The first two shows have been FANTASTIC....the sound is great, you sound comfortable, and there have been an unprecedented number of hysterical stories and comments. Kudos, and keep up the good work!

Cheers!

Tom from Totteham

P.S. Eileen has been a fantastic addition to the show. Her wicked humor complements you like Catwoman complements Batman and Robin, or some shit like that. I have a serious crush on her, so ask her to give me a call when she gets tired of shacking up with that guy named Chad! :-D

Actually got a chance to catch a bit of the live show as my rental had Sirius in it, but was initially confused as 168 the night before did not exist.
Great energy, and far better live on Sirius than on K-Rock given you didn't need to break all the time, and you aren't playing to a cynical local radio market like Kingston was.
Keep Eileen Happy boys, she adds to the content and is damn quick on her feet!
Fridays show with Adam and Alex, was awesome with the 2 of them sparring back and forth.
Just heard on News talk Steely Dan is coming to town and they have tickets, maybe Humble can cop a couple to see them play.
Cheers!

Humble (& Freddie),
Next time you're in NYC taking naked photos of yourself with the Aussie proprietor of the Rox Gallery (yes I'm 2 weeks behind in listening), check out the new museum across the street at the SW corner of Delancey & Orchard:  The Tenement Museum.
My wife and I were there last weekend and found it extremely interesting.  It details the history of Jewish Immigrants and what they went through coming to America at the turn of the 20th century.  We did the Sweat Shop Workers tour.  I would highly recommend it.
I know you guys don't like long emails, so I'll stop here.

I was just thinking, as you are introducing the HF experience to a new audience, hows' about re-telling the story of Phil's hiring process.

As a 100%'er I am well aware of the tale, but I love hearing it whenever it does get retold. So yes I have a selfish agenda here, but I do believe the newbies would enjoy the tale.

That event is a very succinct definition of why you two are outside, and the antidote to, the corporate media zeitgeist. Terrestrial is blind to its own demise.

Well done, gentlemen!
The first show on SiriusXM was great as ever.
I listened to the first hour of the show on my Galaxy S3 on the GO train and final hour using         the web app at my desk.  The sound quality for both was on par with the podcast.

Please keep up the good work.

Hey!
Congrats on the satellite radio thingy-dingy.  Just wanted to say hi, I used to tune into you guys all the time during your CFNY 102.1 The Edge days....lost track of you for a while but I am tuning you in again recently.  I remember CFNY used to be cool...now it sucks balls.  CFNY used to come out to a bar in my hometown on Saturday nights...the bar was called Stairways in Whitby, and I think it was Alternative Saturday's???  Something like that...anyway, I was usually drunk.  So I get to listen to you guys on my way home from work on 1010 am.....whatever that station's call letters are...no idea.
One thing I have heard you guys mention in the recent past is your view on traditional FM radio being just about dead.  I cannot agree more!  As I stated, I grew up in Whitby (next to the SHWA!...filthy place), still live out that way and have been commuting into Scarberia for the last 12-13 years to work.  Well, I got so sick of listening to either commercials or useless, lame, boring dj's talk, talk, talk, talk on FM radio, when all I wanted was some music....that I went to talk radio.  At least on talk radio, I was getting what I wanted.  The FM stations for the most part are complete shite now.  CFNY was great, now it is the same as every other station out there.  Ok, babbling here...sorry guys....anyway, again congratulations on all the success, I hope it continues and I really enjoy the show.  It just needs more naked hot chicks and it would be perfect.
Later,
Ryan Donnelly

Greetings from sunny Vancouver. Just wanted to say Congratulations in advance of the big announcement. Can't wait for the awesome news.

Love listening to the podcast on the 5 hour flight, of course, but best of all is not having to sort through lame radio stations in the rental car. Just pair up the Bluetooth and H+F are back on the air.

Continued best wishes for your world domination plan. :-)

I'm back next week if you want to chat.

Cheers, Marilyn

Fred,

Are you sure you even know the song D'yer Mak'er?  You said,"Oh I hate that song!  Just a bunch of screeching."  That song has to be the most accessible, innocuous one in Zeppelin's catalogue - it's a reggae flavoured relatively mellow tune. If you consider that "screeching", suddenly your preference for Rita MacNeil makes complete sense.

Hi guys (you're right, it never gets old);

I'm not a 100%er...yet, but I am an original dating back to 1989. Funny that you guys were talking about that last week and I so remember when Humble was debuting...I like many others wondered who this Habs fan was moving into Leaf territory. But I remember the accolades accorded to him referencing all his previous stops. And having been a frequent traveler to Montreal in the mid 80's, I recalled their radio stations being way more fun than those in TO.

Anyway...making a short story long, I'm glad to have you guys back on MY radio but not necessarily radio (as in terrestrial). In fact, I forget you guys are on my i-Pod. I frequently find myself arriving at my destination and sitting there listening to you because I don't wasn't to miss what you're saying. After a couple of minutes, I realize that I can hit pause and resume the podcast when I return to my car...short term memory loss? Perhaps...more like early dementia (probably caused by 20+ years of H&F).

Oh look, I'm making a short story even longer...

I just discovered your website (and an app...very cool going to download it tonight) and noticed...SWAG!!!

How does one go about getting some of that swag?

Great job boys, keep it up...in the studio and...elsewhere!

           Hey guys,

I just wanted to send you guys a quick email letting you know that I'm really impressed with your show. I was getting bored with the radio and started to look elsewhere for entertainment. I started listening to you on the Edge and followed your journey throughout radio land. When I heard you guys were going to be on CFRB I was excited to learn that you had a podcast. I have been a 100 percenter for the past three weeks. I always listen to you guys on walks with the dog and I usually stay out longer so I can keep listening.

Keep up the great work!!

Hi guys,  (that never gets old)

I have to say that recently while driving one weekday morning, I decided to listen to terrestrial radio instead of a podcast in my car.  I gave up after about 15 minutes as all I heard was two teasers, one song and commercial after commercial.  You would think that in 15 minutes there would be more content than that.  I guess the terrestrial radio guys think that commuters are a "captive" audience and need to cram as many commercials as possible.  Too bad they don't see how many people are listening to podcasts or satellite radio which offers so much more content than terrestrial radio.

Unless my kids are in the car, I'm listening to podcasts most of the time.  The only radio I listen too is mostly AM radio, funny 820 rocks and so does 1010.  How did they go so wrong??  I find more great new music from your podcast in the last year than I have from listening to the radio and that's sad to say.

Looks like you boys are one of the trailblazers in developing the next wave of delivering content rich entertainment to the masses.  I greatly enjoy your podcast and look forward to all the great guests and entertainment you deliver.  The best part about your show is the organic feel to it.  You make mistakes, or get something wrong, you keep going, much like what happens in real life.  That is one of the most unique things about your show.  Funny and real as it should be.

Thanks for the great entertainment and have a great show.

Hi guys/Hewo peepo.
Just heard a promo for the show at 6:40 in the AM on the testicle radio which is brilliant.
You briefly touched on porn star names yesterday, so I thought I would take liberty to share the formula to help you create names of  your own.
Combine the name of your first pet with the name of the first street you lived on & voilà "A star is born".

Hi Guys - glad to hear you back on the air.  I live in Ancaster but am a fan of 610 CKTB.  Tonight Humble was mentioning a "book" that discusses weight gain in adults 40+ but I didn't catch the title or author.  When you get a moment can you let me know what it is?  Thanks.

My wife and I looked at each other, then back at the kids and we laughed so hard for so long!

Hi Guys,

I have to say that I am a day behind in podcasts, but let me tell you that the show is just getting better and better.  The content is outstanding, the comedy is hilarious, the topics are interesting, and I like the breaks that you have between the segments, gives me a great opportunity to pause the podcast and go for a pee break or grab a coffee.  I love it, especially the podcast only content.

I have to say that joining you on this journey has been a great motivation for me and I'm sure other fans.  When program directors were telling you that the kind of show you are doing is not what the audience wanted, you tried it their way and look what happened.  After the radio career ended, you started doing something that you knew in your heart was right and that people would enjoy which we do immensly.  You once again began to build your audience through the podcast and found that not only do your old fans enjoy it, but people around the globe have started to discover the magic that is Humble and Fred.  You continue to tweak and improve the content to make the show better and adapt it to make it radio friendly thus making the radio people take notice of what they are missing.  With the changes, greater success has come and will continue to come and I look forward to seeing what the future will bring to the show.

Thank you for all the great stuff you have done thus far and for all the great sponsors you have introduced us to.  I, like many other 100%rs enjoy the many hours of entertainment that you have delivered to us and look forward to what is yet to come.  I didn't mean this message as a love in, but felt that your effort should be recognized and praised.

Have an awesome day and once again thank you for all the funny.

Hi guys,

I am just listening to your Thursday's show. I am into 20 minutes of it and so far it's been really funny. However, every time you guys (Humble and Josh) crack a Jew joke, Freddie has to pipe in and voice his concern about a possible backlash from the regular radio listeners. Isn't your program being broadcast on "Funny" stations later on in the evening?? So what's the worry?

A "watered down" pod cast!!! is exactly what I've always been worried about since your program has gone back to terrestrial radio stations. Hey, don't get me wrong, I understand you guys have to make a living. However, by doing that on terrestrial radio, you're no longer free to say whatever you want and please don't deny it. Yes, I know, you have Phil doing the editing but that is a lot of work and the "cleaner" (less swearing, less controversial subjects, etc.) the show, the less editing work and room for mistakes.

I still love your show and I am still a 100 % R but can't help miss the real "uncut" crazy and spontaneous shit from the past.

Cheers

Robert Benz

Hi Boys,

As a 100%er i have been really enjoying the evolution of the podcast and am really enjoying the panel of women every week. i have a question that i would like you to pose to the Muse girls when they are in again. My ladyfriend has always fantazied about a threesome, and with her birthday coming up soon, i was thinking of making her fantasy come true and going to Muse. my question: how does couples massage work? i really want it to be about my ladyfriend and her enjoyment (yeah....i'm pretty sure i'll like it too, but i really want it to be for her). Basically, i'm interested in some details to help me decide if this suitable.

to me, this makes a lot of sense, as for a first time experaince i think it would be better at Muse then finding some girl somewhere, sometime to do this, and obviously this would be a better surprise than having some woman showing up at the door on my pick based on what i think she will like.   i'd would much rather show her the website and let her choose.

Does Muse do a lot of couples massage? i'd be curious to learn how much of their business is made up of that.

thanks guys, and keep up the good work!

Ernie

Hi Guys...

Just wanted to say congrats on the new deal and thanks for a great show everyday.

I started listening in my university days when you were on CFNY (Kelly too!) and was so glad to stumble on the podcast last year. You make my daily trek on the GO train bearable, and I've learned to ignore the stares of my fellow passengers as I chuckle out loud.

Anyhow, thanks again from someone who may not be in your target demographic, but I suspect that there are more 35-45 year old female *100 percenters* than you might think!

Loving you,

Hi guys,

I am glad that you are all excited about the Costco bargains. However, they do come at a price, not to the consumer but to the companies who deal with them ( I worked for one of those companies). They basically use the same tactics as Walmart. Together, they virtually have amonopoly. In many cases  they represent 50 - 80% of a manufacturer's total yearly sales.

Their philosophy is very simple "if you want to do business with us we tell you how much we're going to pay for the goods". The same goes for their returns. Of course they can be generous because the manufacturer has to accept everything back from them, no questions asked and also has to pay an administration cost plus the freight cost.

How can they get away with it? Their volume is so big that a lot of the manufacturers cannot afford not deal with them, even though there is basically no profit.

The other thing which drives me crazy is their demand on the manufacturers to "blister pack" all of the smaller items. What a waste of resources and how taxing for the environment. Freddie, you worry about a littered cigarette butt (and rightfully so) how about all their plastic ending up in landfill sites. We used to get a lot of calls from angry Costco Members about the "over packaging" of product. Were they ever shocked to find out that Costco was the one who demanded it.

Needless to say, I haven't been a Costco member for a long time.

Cheers

Hi Guys + Phil + Intern Army + Kinga,

Just a quick note following the Feb 19 show in which you discussed a long email that criticized the panel of women format.
Of course, as part of your 100%r army, I totally understand and support your efforts to build your brand and business.
But I have to say, the Tuesday formula is getting stale. It's like doing it in the same missionary position every single night. And I'm not suggesting that I'm secretly a prude or anything; it's just that it's not really titilating anymore. Feeling kind of jaded actually--
I really hope too that you haven't taken some of the "consultant coolaid" by always planning and scheduling bits like the panel, in part because of the terrestrial gig. What has made your show so fun these last 15 months is that we never know what we're going to get, it's literally a different box of chocolate every day. Please don't lose all of your spontaneity.

Sent with affection,
~Sarah T

Hi guys,

Oh Momma Freddie, you must be so proud of watching Humble Howard grow so quickly.  He took his first trip to Ikea, became a Costco Member and went shopping there.  Learned what a cold cellar is and plunged his first toilet.  He's growing up so fast!!!  I wonder what great adventure still lie in his future.

Love the show.  The new format is a bit different and unique to your show, but I like it.  I especially like the Podcast only section of the show.  Makes me feel like I'm part of an inside joke that only the podcast fans get.  Love it.

Have a great show!!

Not that the way the show was done before wasn't professional. It is just more polished...like you have found your stride.

Keep up the good work!

If yesterday's podcast was designed as a commercial for Muse...that was the most effective advert i've ever heard in my life. (You guys should get an advertising award for that....)

I mean holy fuck !?? That sweet Paige, a 10 out of 10; who has the best personality a woman can have, and she made out with Phil?  That is off the hook!

My thoughts on this....as a single guy.....

I AM FUCKING GOING!!!!!

Is there anyway we can get some of the other Muse girls on??.......(but i'll bet none can beat Paige's personality) ....and I guarantee im going to spend lots with cash with Paige directly because of her time on the H&F podcast. This 100% certainty ! Because as an older guy, (which Paige happens to like😉) it's not the attendant's looks im worried about (pretty girls aren't THAT rare).......it's their personality.

Anyways....

That was a fun podcast!

Be good gents!

Your chum,

PS: The funniest thing out of Humbles mouth.....Liking Victoria is like liking a boy when compared to Paige.......that killed me.

Hi Guys,

What's this story about Anne Coulter dressing up like Al Gore and selling American Airlines because the black pilots caused the Superbowl Power outage???  You might want to check that story, but then again you are doing a comedy Podcast so some accuracy must be sacrificed for a good belly laugh.  People who complain about it need to lighten up a little and realize that you guys ain't CNN and some items might be exaggerated for comical effect.  No offense guys but you aren't the first names that come to mind when I need to find out the news.  However, when it comes to dick jokes, shart stories, and laughing out loud, the Humble and Fred Podcast are far ahead of anything else.

Hey-

Enjoyed hearing Corin Raymond (Canadian Tire guy) on the podcast. I didn't know about his project, just sent him 4 bucks in CT$.
Saw him at a small house concert a couple years ago, great live entertainer and performer. Get him in studio.

More Rusty! What was that? "Hi Rusty, we have to hang up now." I thought we might get the Pirate opinion on the peephole resort at the very least.

Any word from John the (former) intern, banished to Fort Frances? I tuned in to 93.1 The Border a couple times for a minute or two and heard him doing some station announcements and commercials. Is he still thanking you, or is he cursing you now?

I'm having trouble downloading  the Kelly Cutrara  podcast.  Please fix.

Fellers... (Fred in particular) I got a bit of a vibe with one of your last listener email segments!  Don't get so defensive!  Any "push back" you're receiving from your 100%R's is basically the result of our well-intentioned greed.  Look at it this way.... Years of stagnant radio left us starving.  You teased our tastebuds with such nutrient-rich bits as "We say fuck for breakfast!".  And then we gorged ourselves.  If being clean in 20-13 means revising your statement to  "We say sexual intercourse for breakfast!", well.....we'll still listen to the toned down content, and we'll still enjoy it.  It just seems like we returned to the buffet table in January, and while there are still great piles of grease and fat to jam down our gullets, we've noticed, between rib-sauce covered fingers, that all of the jumbo shrimp are gone, and the kitchen staff isn't bringing out any more.
"Hey Kid, do you want to hold George Armstrong's teeth?"  That has got to be one of the best lines I've heard on the podcast.  Thanks for a great sit down with Sean Cullen; in a field of great interviews, I'd put that one at the head of the pack.  Funny, informative, intelligent... loved it!...Just Sayin'.

I have listened to every show since I got a smart phone in December 2011 including intern and superfan and am very happy for you with the new radio syndication you guys deserve it. You have a great product that is now going to reach many more listeners. The quality of the guests you have on the show and the sponsors you attract is a testament to your popularity, people want to be part of the Humble and Fred experience. Can't wait to see what's next!

Listening to the radio show ( hamilton over the internet - living in Toronto )  and it sounds really good!    Also quite weird too - after listening to podcasts and now on the radio  - very cool also.
Just one observation - because you have to do extra content for your radio content - the length of the podcasts have been around 1.15 hours....  shame the podcasts aren't the usual 1.5 hours ish.
Still, not wanting to end on a negative note - H&F + others rock!   Liking the women round table!

Thanks for that pleasant bit of nostalgia from the Old H&F days:  you tracked down and interviewed LA Chris!  Of all your bits at 102.1, I think your phone interviews with LA Chris were maybe the one piece I really looked forward to.  In a world full of arseholes, this was (and is) one genuine dude.

Wow, what a blast - LA Chris!! Just hearing his voice again brought it all back. I often wondered what had happened to him - it was great to hear him back on your show. If my memory serves me correctly (and it may not), your initial call to that 7-11 was to ask who ever answered for their Oscar predictions. You stumbled on LA Chris and the rest is a brilliant piece of Humble and Fred history.

Congrats on all your recent successes!!
As a certified 100%r  (and a certified H&F stock holder :-) I'm thrilled to be along for the ride!

Good Morning Fellers,

Thanks for that pleasant bit of nostalgia from the Old H&F days:  you tracked down and interviewed LA Chris!  Of all your bits at 102.1, I think your phone interviews with LA Chris were maybe the one piece I really looked forward to.  In a world full of arseholes, this was (and is) one genuine dude.  I thought it was a bittersweet interview:  his voice sounds the same, as does his disposition (laid back), but you get the sense that things haven't necessarily moved forward as much as he would have liked in the better part of 20 years.  However, with that in mind, and with the possibly that LA Chris might get the chance to read from your postings, I'd like to send out a message for him:  There is nothing more important than family and friends; setting aside whatever goals you might have to take care of those close to you, shows considerably more character than anything else you could ever do.  So, Well Done! (And listen, if these Ass-Clowns can work an old kitchen table, some paint and a few shitty mics, into a podcast and then into a money making venture, at their advanced age and declining health, well hell... you might just get the chance to do all the travelling you want.  I guarantee that if you make it back up to Toronto, your old fans - and some new ones - would still treat you as royalty!)

Regards!
Dave O'Steele.

Hey boys,

Congratulations on landing the new radio deal.  Funny how radio didn't think there was a place for the type of show you do, so you turn it into a podcast where you can do what you want how you want for as long as you want and they are the light if how good it is.  I think it's a great deal for you and gives us fans another opportunity to listen to more Humble and Fred.  Congratulations again!!

I have a question.  Is there anyway you can get a live video feed when you do your Panel of Women show?  I was hoping you can get a camera on your interns because I got an over under pool on how many times they are going to play touchy cocky with themselves.

Love show and I wish you great success with the new deal.

Hi Guys,

Congrats on the Astral deal.. so glad to hear the podcast will continue.  I can't think of any podcasts that are turned into content for radio, so i suspect you may be the first to do this.  As Fred said, others will follow you.

Keep up the great work!

One question for Humble, you were talking about an app that Ladyfriend has on her phone that plays cover songs.  could you find out the actual name of it and email it back to me.  I searched for it and couldn't find it.

Thanks,

Hey guys,

As per your quick discussion yesterday regarding women's hockey and what their V's look like while playing; I've always wondered if women hockey players shower together in one big shower like dudes do. Maybe you guys can get Tessa Bonhomme on the show one day and non chalantly crowbar a few of these beauty questions into the interview.

Once again, the fart talk never gets old. Always find myself belly laughing like a 7 year-old when you do.

Thanks for the laughs, guys

Hi guys,

I am just listening to yesterday's (Jan. 7) podcast to find out that the donated food is still in your studio. It doesn't really bother me that you guys are dipping into it (I know you guys are desperate people). However, how needy can the Vaughan Foodbank be to not pick up the donations until now????????? Christmas and the holidays would have been a perfect time to provide this food for the less fortunate people.

Humble and Fred!

Fantastic having you back from break, with an almost great (and pleasantly lengthy) show.  As a raving 100% 'R, I'm loving what you guys are doing, and happily spread the gospel which is your podcast to my friends dotting the globe. That said... what sort of bullshit was that today?  That sort of lame mocking of a guest - yes, even a Quebecois - was as cringe worthy as it gets.  You fuckers are better than that.  Way better.  I was actually in the process of reaching for the fast forward button, and losing my 100% status, when Howard thankfully shut that painful bit down.  Other than that, I always liked Phil's opening song, but have to admit I didn't miss it.  And finally, Saul Korman is not Jewish, or Greek.  Or Jewish - Greek.  Or Greek - Jewish.  I'm pretty sure he's Dutch.  He has tiny hands.

First let me wish you and the entire Humble and Fred Radio group a New Year filled with great success, good health and many joyous moments.  (by the way, I do this until the 15th, but only on the first message)

Great First Podcast of the year.  We 100%ers are waiting to hear the big news, although I am a little saddened to hear you are going "Clean in 13".  I guess from now on my favorite promo for your show will have to change to: "Humble and Fred.  We say Frig for breakfast, if the censors let us."  To be honest, I don't think reducing the amount of swears will have any impact on the quality of your show.  Look at all the great interviews you boys have done where little or no swearing was involved.  Plus, you still got great stories that make us all laugh our balls off.  (Handy J's on a bus to Moosejaw, Ladyfriend stepping in Dog diarrhea, and my all-time favourite, Freddie's Cardiac episode at the Caribbean buffet.  Absolutely legendary!!)

Can wait to see all the great things that will happen in 2013 for the show and I am so happy that we are all along for the ride.

Thank you for the entertainment and have a great show!!!

Gents...(hi guys!)

I hear you reference Fred Ball, distributor of the Humble and Fred t-shirts, quite often. However I have not yet heard you reference a way to obtain one of these shirts. I hear you giving them away freely to your guests, but given my work schedule (and the fact that I'm not terribly famous) I don't foresee myself being a guest on your program. Is there a way of purchasing one of these shirts? I'd wear it proudly if I could get my hands on one.

I stumbled upon you guys about a year ago after being a long time listener from the good old days at CFNY and I diligently download each days episode before heading off to work at night. I drive a gasoline tanker and work overnights running back and forth between Toronto and Huntsville. Many a shitty night has been made easier laughing my ass off with you guys.

Warmest regards, best wishes and continued success in 2013.

P.S: also, maybe I might be directed to where I could find a few of your bumper stickers? One of them would look terrific on the back of my trailer going up and down Highway 11 all night, every night.

Hi Guys,

You mentioned phobias on Friday.
When I was about 7 yrs old, my father took me to see the movie JAWS in the theatre. Thanks Dad!..god rest his soul.
Since then I cannot swim in water when I can't see the bottom. When I try, I know that something with teeth is comin' up fast..so, I have to book it out of there.
One of the worst lakes for dropping off to blackness is Lake Mazinaw, couple hours up hwy35. For 20ft out from shore the bottom is sandy and visible, then it drops to
about 300ft deep. Hate that lake!

Anyway,

When you guys talked about him getting a podcast on your network, I gotta tell ya, my nipples got a little hard. Make it happen, guys.

And to Kelly - don't let those guys bust your balls. Its your opinion on the music that we'll listen to, not your knowledge of the chronology of musical genres.  Just do it.

Hi guys
I wouldn't say I am a 100%r but I do listen to all the new shows. I agree with lady friend about her comment regarding the opening song. Phil has a great rhythm about him but repeating the same song does get tiring . how about getting the listener email to suggest a song for him to sing every day.  (his version or the norm) And every once and awhile fit in the "show tune".   I have 2 other issues that drive me nuts. 1. BABY PHIL ... please no more I think he has a voice that send a message across the airways, (when he talks normal) but when he does the baby shit he drops down a few notches and he sounds FUCKED! maybe get him to do a Toronto Asian or a Asian news feed that he can put his thoughts on . the 2nd is the on air talk about the 30 second video . why can't a intern take the person to the side and get them to do the video. Is that not what an intern is for to keep your flow moving, not that you lose it but c'mon it seems very unprofessional.

Thanks for reading and will keep listening

I was just wondering if you hold a Christmas Party?  I am planning a trip into the city around Christmas for my birthday and not sure if you still have parties like used to or if people can come and watch the show.  I used to attend all of the parties with 102.1 (which was a long time ago) and they were super fun and I even have a great picture of you guys with me and a friend, as well as a picture with Pete Fowler who used to DJ there as well.  Anyways, not even sure if there is a party but thought I would send a quick note.

Thanks and happy holidays!!!  Lora Bender.

Keep up the great work. Looking forward to todays show.

P.S At the beginning of the show, Fred you wondered out loud what kind of car he might drive. I can tell you as of last summer it was a BMW 328 convertible. He was a customer of ours at that time and that is what he was driving. Of course that may have changed by now.
All the best.

Hi Guys,

Great Interview today with Ron Mac.  Really enjoyed it!

Regarding background talking and stuff...It's an insight into all that's going on with the show..I think it's cool!

Mr. Fred..Would you consider doing some new Mr. Goohead bits?  It would be awesome if you did.  Mr. Goohead is a really funny character and bit!

Finally, you know how Phils' theme song gets stuck in your head?  Well, why not use that for any future radio commercial ads you may run on terrestrial radio.  The commercial could start with Phil singing the song as he regularly does..then some funny stuff with You Guys..then a voice guy talks about the website, the free app for your smart phone (to listen live? :), and other details.  What I'm getting at is that people hearing your commercial, a few times, will get the song stuck in their heads..great advertising.

Keep 'er goin' fellas.

Listening and laughing,

Hi guys,

Humble, the next time you speak with Gary Leeman, please bust his chops for not acknowledging the reason he scored 50 goals - his linemate, Eddie Olczyk.  Man, it irks me how little respect he receives!  I don't care much about the NHL anymore or the Leafs, but I was a huge fan during that era.

And Fred, congrats on being a new grandpa.  I'm a new dad to a one-month old, and it was sweet to hear about your experience on the day of your grandson's birth.  Shit certainly got real!

Hey guys,

I'd just like to pass on how much I thoroughly enjoyed today's show. As a big hockey fan it was very refreshing to hear Leeman and Maclean talk about their respective lives and careers instead of the usual boring lockout talk from the MSM. I also have a large interest in the media (I've lurked the yellow board for years, haha) so hearing Maclean kind of "off the record" like that was especially fantastic.

Would also like to note that I was at an oldtimers game a few years ago and through a friend of a friend was afforded the privilege of going into the dressing room to meet the players afterwards. One of the players (it might have actually been Peter Zezel) told me that Gary Leeman skates so fast he can easily beat many of today's NHL'ers even at his age. Leeman was before my time, but man it must have been a treat to watch him. Again, great show today; will look forward to more in the future.

"Hello people" -

Thanks for reading my letter on your recent podcast  - even though you don't recall me from an earlier communcation to you   (reference June 23rd podcast - my 18 year old daughter's summer bucket list : which by the way turned out to be something her friends and her concocted at a drinking party and turned it into a game....so all of the girls had the same bucket list to work from....)

I will chalk this up to 'short term memory loss' and Freddy P  being a new grandparent (congrats by the way!) and I wouldn't expect you to remember all of your many loyal listeners....

I promise to not be as long between emails next time and  I am working on 'a bit' for you guys (something I will call "lettered curse words") .

Hi guys! Well, holy fuck! I missed the sign the first time it was up there. I do a lot of driving in the downtown core but don't get up on the Gardner very often to see the Humble and Fred Radio banner! It was a nice feeling listening to you guys on my iPhone and seeing an advert at the same time. I got on the podcast bus a bit late, but have turned my back on terrestrial radio and am listening to 3-5 shows per day until I catch up. I'm currently about half way through August and loving the shows!  I recently downloaded your app from iTunes and am having a blast with it, it'll be more enjoyable when I become a 100%er, then I'll be able to read the tweets, blogs and have them make sense to me.  The interviews are all well done,  very in depth and a lot better than any 4 minute radio interview you'd get. Keep up the laughter.

Faithfully listening and downloading.

To Uncle Howie and Grandma Fred,

Keep the Phil intro. Here are some suggestions (my personal opinion):

Backing vocalists (interns) i can do without, i like my Phil solo.

I'm not a huge fan of the screechy high pitch ending (trying to harmonize), i'd rather him just sing it the way the original sounds.

On the other hand, i don't mind when he changes the whole version up occasionally (Ray Charles version, Chinese versions).

All the best, i enjoy listening immensely!

Where to begin:   Had an absolutely awesome time at your anniversary show, meeting you 2 , Kelly, the interns and Kinga.  You guys are truly gifted and the people you attract couldn't be more loyal and rooting for your success.   Usually a large room full of strangers can be intimidating, (especially coming solo as I did,) but there wasn't a moment I felt like a wall flower or awkward like at the teenage dances you went to in high school.   There was  a positive buzz in the air and everyone I met were out pouring in their conversation and excitement for what you 2 have created here.    I really can't think of 2 personalities that have as dedicated a following, and it showed in the preparation and sweat equity that those who helped put this together displayed last night.

Also I have to congratulate Sarah and Jody on their Super Fan show, they played clips I had forgot about (Freddies worn under wear episode and From the Tip advice.   Spencers singing Ingrid Michaelson. The talent and confidence she has at 14 is to be admired ), and they do all this for free!

Hello people!
Kelly recommended Game of Thrones highly, but I suggest you consider reading the book(s) first. I fucking hated fantasy books (after devouring them as a child), but someone convinced me to check these out.
They're honestly amongst the very best novels I've ever read. The whole "fantasy" bit is extremely understated and barely exists in the first book, beyond the introduction. It's mostly mediaeval politics, roughly based on the War of the Roses.
The thing that makes them so amazing is that I've never read a book with such realistic-feeling characters.
The show is great, but it's obviously simplified and the sex is over-the-top because it's HBO (there's plenty in the books).
Besides that, I highly highly recommend Howard checks out Archer. It's literally the funniest show I've ever seen and think the sense of humour is right up his/your alley. The first couple of seasons are on Netflix. I'm not 100% sure it's Fred's bag but by all means give it a try.
(It's a very high-quality stylised cartoon with amazing timed snappy humour. It stars a bunch of well-known people, including several from Arrested Development. The show's situation is basically Arrested Development at a Cold War spy agency, but so much more intensely funny.
Highly recommended.
Regards,
Mark

A lot of your earlier pod casts and can't believe how stupid the program directors are in this town. I really believe, like you guys do, that the personalities of the radio are what makes people listen to a certain station. If you don't have that connection with the audience then what's the point. That's why I love guys you can be hilarious one minute and then serious the next.

Hi Guys,
You were saying the other day that "old people" don't know how to listen to podcasts.  Well, I'm only 32 and had a hell of time subscribing - good thing I'm so determined!  Here's an idea, why don't you make a quick 1 minute how to video for each of Blackberry, iPhone, and Android that show what a podcast is, where to find it on your phone, how to subscribe, and how to play it.  You know the kinds of videos I'm talking about (https://www.dropbox.com/ and click the big play button) - except I'm sure your videos could be more entertaining.  Then post big links to video on the homepage.

It is possible to subscribe to your podcast on Blackberry fairly easily with the free, default "Blackberry Podcast" app - but it really helps to have video instructions... it took me forever to figure it out.

Hope that helps you two grow your business - and keep up the great work :)

I told Philly that I'm uncomfortable with laughing at someone's inability to speak proper English - broken English isn't funny.  Nobody would laugh at Phil if he spoke in a Chinese accent and spoke Chinese.

My 2 cents... but ask yourself if you (Humble or Fred) would do the Haroo Peepoo bit on terrestrial radio.

Gentlemen,

Is there any way you guys could avoid having annoying filler guests like Mike Boon on? Holy hell that guy is boring. Ten minutes talking about how much weight he lost and how fabulous he looks - give me a f#@kin' break. And who the hell made this anus the expert on Toronto radio? Nobody cares what you think assface. The Spirit of Radio is gone baby, let it go.

Seriously guys, I'd rather listen to Howard eat on air than listen to Toronto Mike spout off about how great his insight is. I'll listen to Derringer if I want to feel inferior, or even better, Andy Frost - at least those two have jobs on the radio not just some crappy blog.

Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

Hi guys.

You know why people really enjoy your show?  It's simply because you two are genuine in your opinions.  When you both said that you were not fans of Led Zeppelin, I said finally someone else that thinks that.  I was especially impressed that you acknowledged that not liking the Zep was an unpopular view, but Fuck it, you are being Humble and Fred.  It is so refreshing to listen to someone who isn't towing a "company line" or has some hidden agenda. (Unless you're getting paid for it then more power to ya) I have to say that although I like Jimmy Page as a guitar virtuoso, I really can't stand Robert Plant's banshee like shrieking.  I mean honestly does he have to do it in every song??  WTF!!!

You both are truly originals and should have your own reality show documenting your road back to success in a new media.  Or at the very least, a web series which I am sure us 100%ers would download and watch intently.

Enjoy your week off and have a great show you funny fuck faces!!!

Hi Guys

To add to your Zeppelin segment from yesterdays show - it's been well documented of all the songs Zeppelin ripped off from lesser known artists and called them their own.
No royalties, no writing credits, nothing. Deemed them their own.

Some pretty interesting stuff here. Stairway to Heaven is staggering...

Hi guys.

Having hiked on four continents, I can probably answer some of Howard's questions regarding hiking.

Really, the only equipment you need is a good pair of hiking boots. You don't need heavy duty mountaineering boots, but if you're hiking on rocky terrain it's good to have some ankle support. It's best to wear layers of clothing, so you can take them on and off as the weather changes, or as you warm up while hiking or cool of when you stop for a break. You should have a knapsack to carry those layers of clothes, as well as food and water.

Probably the best hiking in southern Ontario is the Bruce Trail, which follows the Niagara Escarpment from Niagara-on-the-Lake to Tobermoray. I highly recommend Nepal. You can't beat hiking in the Himalayas.

A bunch of us are currently hiking the Oak Ridges Trail if you'd like to join us one Sunday. We do about 20-25 kilometres.

Hi Guys

Glad to hear Spencer on the show, her wit is on par with the rest of you nut huts. I was listening to the 89.3 The Current (thanks Freddie P) and I was introduced to the band Purity Ring (song was lofticries) and the lead singer sounds very similar to Spencer. I think she will have a great career if she wants to go for it as her voice has that "it" factor. Looking forward to the first year party.

Hi Guys

Was at a local restaurant for breakfast with my daughter. There was a group of people talking about energy drinks and they all agreed that 5 hour energy drink was the best. Could it be the natural ingredients such as broccoli, avocado and (cue the baby Phil) banana?  My daughter looked at me weird when I said banana like Phil out loud.

I understand a certain podcast duo has been run out of Kingston. Where's the blog entry about the demise of Kingston's morning show of excellence Crumble n' Debt?

If you can't make it in Kingston, where can you make it? A smaller market? The trailer park?

Not Dean

Here was our reply.

@ Not Dean
We've been quite transparent about Kingston. It was a three month experiment that turned into five months, that turned into the realization that doing ten shows a week was too much. I know this will piss you off, but the podcast is actually more lucrative and we have some bigger, more exciting news coming very soon.
What would be real cool is if you'd identify yourself so we could invite you onto the podcast and you can say everything you've ever wanted to say to us - to our faces.
How about it "Not Dean" ?

Humble and Fred,
This morning on my drive in you were discussing Poppies and how they are hard to keep on some types of clothing/material. A good trick is to break off a pencil eraser and put it on the end of the pin, also if you have a small Canada Flag lapel pin that you see around use it instead of the pin that comes with the Poppy. Now you have a Poppy with a Canadian Flag in the middle.

Hi guys

2012 will always be the "Summer of Humble and Fred".
We have a cottage close to Kingston and as a long time fan I was excited to hear you were doing a new morning show
I usually listen to Fly Fm or what ever else I could pick up
I didn't even know about K-Rock
My dilemma was that I like to take my coffee down to the dock in the morning and watch the lake
What was I to do with you on the radio at the same time
Then it came to me....the boat has a radio
Yahoo
Now my peaceful serene mornings were filled with poopy fart jokes
Best summer ever

Chris from Scarborough's fav pub, The Olde Stone Cottage, 3750 Kingston Road. I have a bone to pick with Freddy.

I am in the middle of opening a second location and have had little time for the news, but lots of time to keep up with the H&F podcast. After Fred's comment about the exaggerated coverage of Hurricane Sandy, I understood it wasn't such a big deal. With that, I decided to make a Sandy "jokie joke" on the pub's digital sign, which by the way, has 30,000 cars pass per day. That message was to start "broadcasting" at 5 AM Wednesday morning.

Tuesday night I actually had time to catch up with life and learned of the actual devastation of the storm. Unfortunately, I forgot about my "jokie joke", until I got up for a pee at 4 AM. For some reason, everything clicked in and I realized massive "Fred inspired" misjudgement. Got in the car, fixed the sign, lost an hour of sleep, and no one knows the difference... until now, or given your audience, not so much (another jokie joke).

Anyhow, we are listening, you have impact and influence - you will continue to grow and prosper!

See you at the party - let me know if I can bring some wings (GTA best).

"What we really should be concerned about is a couple politicians having unfettered media access to foist their highly slanted views on the public, unchecked and uncontested.  "Hi, I'm Rob Ford, that traffic report would have been a lot better without streetcars." That you let pass and choose instead to lambast the city's Integrity Commissioner impinging on the free speech of our mayor and his councillor brother to play AM shock jocks? The thing is, Globe and Mail, the Fords aren't just talk show hosts although their administration is largely conducted as if they were.  Just because it's Sunday doesn't mean their listeners think of them as Humble and Fred and not the mayor of Toronto as his right-hand man. When they -- how'd you put it again? -- "...ridiculed [Medical Officer of Health] Dr. McKeown's nearly $300,000 salary as 'an embarrassment'

My vote is in for Kelly to do her own podcast.

If I had an issue with the H&F daily podcast is that I'd like to have more exposure to new music.  Kelly doing a podcast on new music, or her insights into music would be awesome.  Kelly can provide her "music junky" input for people that have the same interest in music as her, but don't have the time to delve into it as much as we'd like.  She can sort through the shit and point us to where the good stuff is.

Please Kelly, DO IT.

Pretty Please.

Hi Guys,

Just a quick note to say thanks to you guys I was able to finish the Detroit Marathon yesterday with a smile on my face. I saved up the podcasts from Wednesday to Friday last week and listened to them yesterday during my run.

At one point during the Thursday show, you were discussing getting lost in scary places in the States - including Detroit, and I was actually running in Downtown Detroit at the time! I can confirm that they keep the lights flashing yellow at night so that you're not idling at a stoplight in a bad area.

Anyway, just wanted to say 'thanks' - you guys had me focused on the show and not the pain and suffering going on for 26.2 miles. Plus, I added in some 5-hour energy along the way to give me a boost. It was a great combo - I finished in 4 hours and 11 minutes!

See you at the Nut Hut Shit Show in November - can't wait!

Thanks,
Andy

Congrats on the anniversary.. you've come a long way baby!

Just a thought... recently I met up with our mutual friend Drew Marshall a couple of weeks ago & he mentioned he was going to visit you guys on the 19th & he graciously invited me to come along for the ride.

I wanted see how my week was turning out & it looks as I can make it work.. but first I wanted to check to see if it was okay with you guys in case you had too many people around that day.

Perhaps I could come in earlier & miss the traffic (I fucking hate traffic!) & watch the K-rock show if thats cool with you or just arrive later... whatever works best for you guys. (Drew said he was arriving for 10am)

If its a full day & no room.. no worries I can try for another day when there's less traffic.. just let me know so I can switch my days with work & plan what time to show up. (If not I'll look forward to meeting you guys at the Anniversary party in Nov.)

Congrats again.. you guys have done really well (IMO) & as you have mentioned.. just need that barrier broken for all those fans who haven't found out that your back & open for business... hang in there... if you build it.. they will come... eventually!

Keep on talk'in & K-Rocking,

awesome that it has ever been before. I'm so happy you ditched
terrestrial radio and found your way to the internet. I got tired of
writing station managers scathing emails every time you got fired.

I wanted to add to your best-before date conversation from Wednesday's
show and share this article my friend Angela Mulholland wrote for CTV
about the confusion that best-before dates cause consumers
(http://www.ctvnews.ca/best-before-confusion-leading-to-needless-food-waste-1.744531).
Fred, as you suspected, the dates have nothing to do with the product
expiring and are really there as a suggestion about how long the food
will taste "fresh". And while the government requires best-before
dates on foods that will keep fresh for less than 90 days, it's up to
food manufacturers to choose those dates. There are really no
regulations controlling the dates - and it's just a great way to get
people to buy more food.

Hi Guys:

Couldn't meet a nicer guy.    His daughter played on a soccer team with my daughter about 10 years ago and I got to see this first hand, he really is this nice.   It was truly an honour and a pleasure to meet someone with such positivity, and a real genuine character.  Hang with him enough and you couldn't help but be positively impacted.
His wife and family were just as wonderful to be around.   I wouldn't want to see Pinball run for mayor of Toronto, he is far to good for that Nut Hut Shit show!!

Glad to see we are all adjusting to our girls going off to residence, it just seems like yesterday we were walking them to Kindergarten.

Cheers

Hi guys!!!!

PINBALL CLEMENS!!!!!!   It was great hearing him on your podcast.  He has got to be one of your best guests ever.

You need to give him a show on the Humble and Fred Network!!!  Pinball has to be one of the most personable guys that has walked on the face of this earth.  He is one of a kind and always speaks from the heart.  You need him on the Humble and Fred network.  Pinball can draw an audience across all demographics and keep them enthralled with his thoughts and opinions.  You never hear a bad word about him nor do you ever hear anyone say an event Pinball was at sucked.  I bet he would also lure new sponsor to your family of shows which can't hurt.

Love the podcast and I, like many of your listeners, were hoping to get the old Humble and Fred show again; but what we are getting is so much better.  It's the Nut Hut Shit Show!!!

Thank you for all the entertainment you give us.

"Hi guys,"

It's Matt from Ottawa, the fella who called in during last Friday's phone-in segment.  I just wanted to say thank you very much for having me as part of the show, I very much appreciated the opportunity, and continue to wish you both the best as you expand your network.  You guys make a great model for how to establish yourselves on the internet, while also providing your content to terrestrial radio.

Speaking of which, I forgot to ask on Friday: any word on whether K-Rock in Kingston will keep you guys on past the summer?  I think that would be a fantastic arrangement for both parties, plus you could pursue the licensing/syndication of your content to other radio stations.  Like I said, very excited by your rapid expansion.

Have a great day fellas, and thanks again for the opportunity to say thank you on the show.

Sincerely,

matt mcgowan

Hi Guys

Was sitting in the waiting room of Ottawa Civic Hospital and picked up a Magazine and it was the Canadian Hearing Society Vibe 2010 edition, and it had a pic of Humble cutting the ribbon.

Not great quality, but I remember a few months back you doing a call to someone from CHS about this event.

Cheers

Hi Guys,

My sympathies to Humble Howard, as his daughter leaves the nest for University.
I can really imagine how difficult it must be with 2 young daughters of my own.

The Australian guy who called into your podcast on Phone-In-Friday.
I laughed so hard that I listened twice..it was hilarious with the air-horn and "WRONG ANSWER!".

'Hats off' to Jimmy Cochoun for the 'Slim Mackeral' tape from 2002.
Hearing that was like being back in time, listening to the bit 'live' on Mojo.

And, I hope Funny 820am in Hamilton considers Humble and Fred for a Live Morning Comedy Show.
Mornings Live with Humble and Fred on Funny 820 would be a great touch to an already terrific station.

Cheers,
James Kirk - Whitby.
